One year age, on 30 June 2021, the Generation Equality Forum, co-chaired by France and Mexico under the leadership of UN Women, set out to (re)mobilise politicians, the private and public sectors, philanthropy and civil society in favor of feminist revival.
The Generation Equality Forum had an international reach and welcomed a multitude of private, public and civil society actors, all wiling to fight for genre equality. These same participants pledged to make a number of commitments to improve the lives of women and girls in a joint effort. Nearly $40 billion has been raised.
This note entitled “Looking Back One Year After the Generation Equality Forum: Which posterity?” aims to analyse the progress of the commitments made during the GEF. In June 2022, what is the reality of these commitments between the coalitions and the different actors? Is the Generation Equality Forum a turning point for genre equality or already a relic of the past?
